“JOINT COLLEGE TAKES ON STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES TO DRIVE FINANCIAL AND SOCIAL CHANGE IN COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING”

Highlights

  • Drove financial and social change in College of Engineering through meetings with Florida Board of Governors

Summary

“The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is a joint school between Florida A&M University and Florida State University. The college is operated under the academic procedures and the management responsibilities in the Memorandum of Agreement (or Joint Management Agreement).” [1] With two schools united under one college, there is more opportunity for student success and development in the Tallahassee area. I “was one of two student representatives on the Joint Management Council for the college, where [I] sat alongside university provosts, presidents and members of the Florida Board of Governors to steer the college’s oversight and planning functions.” [2] As a student, I valued sharing the classroom with both my FAMU and FSU friends and colleagues, and am proud to have served the College of Engineering in this council.
